As some of you know, I drafted up this website a long time ago:
--> Count Florida Votes
If you visit the website, please sign the petition:
--> Count Florida Votes Petition
The website explains all of the Florida debacle, in detail. Elements of this website will be used in the last remaining 'law based' attempt to get those votes counted. We hope that things will move along quickly, so that this case can make it to the Supreme Court.
In any event, there is one very simple reason why Barack does not want Florida and Michigan votes to go through. If you calculate the estimated delegates, based on the vote (remember, Obama supporters in Michigan voted undecided), then you can see that Hillary Clinton would gain another 64 delegates, above what Barack Obama would gain:
http://florida-delegates.com/state.xls
(Spreadsheet software needed for that link.)
I do believe, with a good win in PA, and counting the uncounted FL and MI votes, Edwards would endorse Hillary. So, if you add Edward's delegates (48, including Florida), this could be a real primary election.
Mr. Obama would not have a large lead anymore. So, there is a good reason why he doesn't want them to count. That is why he is fighting this so hard, not because he is intrinsicly concerned about 'followin the rules'. In fact, for a guy who wants to be the 'American Uniter', you might think he would want to count ALL votes from this primary. But, he knows, that could lose him the primary.
So, what can I do about this, as a disgruntled 40+ year Democrat? Well, everytime the Democratic National Committee or Democratic party send me a request for money, I send it back and tell them to count all votes and they will get my money. Don't count them, and they get nothing from me. Pure and simple!
I think if enough of us 'vote with our wallets', maybe the Democratic party will reconsider their choice to disenfranchise so many American voters.
As I said, I am a 40 year registered Democrat; but I am fed up with this corrupted election. Sadly, it is my own political party who is causing a portion of that corruption!
Take Care, Sharon
Democrats can win the White House, IF they get the majority of electoral votes. Each state is assigned a number of electoral college votes, based on population.
'Blue' states are ones that commonly vote democratic. 'Red' states commonly vote Republican. 'Purple' states, also known as 'swing states', can be one by either party. Purple states are the ones that each party wants to win to put them 'over the top'.
The way democrats can win the White House is to win all of our 'blue' states and as many of the 'purple' states as possible. So, just as in any sporting event, you want to put your best player out there to win you as many points as possible. Well, Hillary is that winner, and I have the figures to prove it........
Obama has a lead of 139 finalized delegates; with 1,811 delegates still in play, as of 2/23/08 - http://greenvalleyweb.com/state.html
I totally disagree with the news media who portray this primary as a 'done deal'. Remember, only the elected delegates are reasonably declared (there candidate selections can also be amended at the convention). 2,159 delegates are elected delegates; 1,811 delegates are still 'in play' as superdelegates. And please don't forget that there are still 366 delegates for Michigan & Florida that should not be discounted totally.
Texas and Ohio are going to be deciding states. So, if you want your candidate to win, get out there and work for them!
Passage of Florida legislative bill HB 537 has caused 2.6 million voters to become disenfranchised. Close to 1.7 million of those voters were Democrats. Unless the RNC & DNC policies are changed, this could happen to you some day; regardless of your state or party affiliation. How you can help fight this:
Get your friends, family, and contacts to sign it. Cut and paste the info above into your emails, and add a personal note asking your friend to PLEASE pass it on to others. If you also want to support Michigan in their fight to have their votes count, sign this petition: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/hey-dnc -count-every-vote
Do you believe that all of the 210 delegates for the state of Florida should be seated at the convention?
Let me say, right up front, that I am a proud Hillary Clinton supporter. And, don't try changing my mind, because it took a lot of serious research and consideration to get me here. I Was a John Edwards supporter and when he left, I had to choose another candidate. I believe I chose the best!
Obama has a lead of 139 finalized delegates; with 1,811 delegates still in play, this is not impossible to do:
http://greenvalleyweb.com/state.html
2,159 delegates are finalized; 1,811 delegates are still 'in play'; not including 366 delegates for Michigan & Florida. ALL superdelegates are 'in play' until the final vote. So, I did not add them to Hillary or Barack's delegates.
